It is time…

American Mine Worker Memorial 2023 has ended

The American Mine Worker Memorial has come to it’s end.  The New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has cut the $350,000.00 to $70,000.00.

This is not enough to start the project.

Greatest of thanks to New Mexico Senator Gerald Ortiz y Pino for his tireless efforts to get the fundings for this project.  Thanks also to the Senators and Representatives who donated to the project during the Legislative Session.

The Web Site for the American Mine Worker Memorial will be brought down along with this Face Book page.

Our sincere apologies to all those who are personally affected by the cancellation of the memorial.   Your great service will not be forgotten!

Thank you all and thanks to the American Mine Worker!

Michael Pino

THIS MEMORIAL WAS TO COMMEMORATE THE CONTRIBUTIONS THE AMERICAN MINE WORKER HAS MADE TO SOCIETY.

THE LIFE-SIZED SCULPTURE WOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT OUT OF MUSEUM-QUALITY BRONZE AND WOULD HOLD EIGHT FIGURES, INCLUDING A MULE COMING OUT FROM THE MINE.  THE FIGURES REPRESENTED THE PROGRESS OF THE HISTORY OF THE MINER FROM EARLY SETTLERS’ DAYS TO OUR MODERN WORLD.  THE FIGURERS SELECTED WERE REAL AMERICAN MINERS WITH A REAL MINING HISTORY BEHIND THEM.

An Artist’s Conception:

“The imagery will typify the Miner from the 1500s to the present day. My design consists of six miners, a mule, a woman, and a child. I envision six ‘Miners’ working with the mining apparatus of their day. A mule, with full pulling tack, is being led out of the tunnel by a miner. A seated woman and child.”
